HELEN - INSPIRING STORIES VOL.11

·

Let's meet Helen. Cool mum living with her family in London, magazine editor and a lady with great music taste. Helen has two daughters Clem Dot and Ofèlia Rei.

1.Where do you live?

We've moved around London a lot. For now we live in East London; soon we'll be moving south of the river.

2. Do you work?

I was a magazine editor before I had the kids. I'll be going back to editing a parenting magazine in the new year.

3. How do you relax?

Grabbed moments throughout the day. Going for the morning coffee, taking the girls for a stroll or reading with Clem.

4. Do you have any tips on coping with being tired?

I'm a real grouch when I'm tired. I get an early night as often as possible as it's not possible to nap in the day. I take iron supplements and I'm trying to eat better, taking care to note what nutrients I might need at certain times of the month.

5. What is the last book/magazine you read?

The last book I read was Confessions of a Recovering Environmentalist. It's almost impossible to read with two kids. I'm looking forward to tackling the pile of nature writing that's piling up beside the bed.

6. Where do you shop clothes for you and your baby?

All over, but pretty much all found via Instagram. I like to support independent mum makers and I'm always keen to know where the clothes have come from. We try to avoid fast fashion (because of the social and environmental costs) where possible.

7.Your latest favourite band/musician?

Music used to play a much more definitive role in my life. For now it's the usual suspects - Deerhunter, Tame Impala, Kurt Vile, Fleet Foxes.

8.Have you got any tips on how to grow Instagram following?

Not tips on how to grow it so much - I'm no big hitter. I think at this point not over-worrying it helps - it's become pretty competitive. For me personally, it's just about quality over quantity.

9. Why do you like S&B?

I've loved S&B since the moment I saw the first toys. I love the classic simplicity of the designs and the way they bring traditional wooden toys up-to-date. All the toys and games are just so beautiful, I love how natural they are and how they can be passed on. Plastic breaks so easily. Its hard but we're really trying to reduce the amount of plastic that comes through our household.

10. What is your favourite toy/item from our collection?

That's so hard to pick as I love everything new that gets added! I like how sculptural the wooden horse is and the pull-along elephants are just so sweet.

Thank you so much Helen for being part of our stories! Helen's Instagram - @hel_bow
