Our volume 2 features Kate, an inspiring women and mother. Kate is a talented designer and branding genius. We love her style and her idyllic photographs of her as a creative and mother to adorable baby Carter. We asked her a few questions to find out more about her lifestyle… 

1. Where do you live? How old is your baby?

My husband Matt, my son Carter and myself live in Taupo, New Zealand. A peaceful little corner of the world! Carter is 10 months old, turning 1 this September!

2. Do you work?

Yes, I run my own design and lifestyle studio – Make Hey. When Cart is asleep I work away, creating logos and wedding stationery or behind the camera doing styled shoots for some of the most beautiful companies.

3. How do you relax?

I love getting outside for fresh air. Matt and I walk Carter and our pups as often as we can. We head down to the lake and watch the boats, eat ice cream in the summer and enjoy the slow days.

4. Do you have any tips on coping with being tired?

In those early days when C was so young I would sleep when he did. That overwhelming feeling of being so tired was something I wasn't expecting. To be fair I had no idea what to expect! A good diet, a walk in the sunshine and a cup of coffee with friends are a guaranteed pick me up for me!

5. What was the last magazine/book you read?

Magazine – Fete Magazine Issue 16. So good!

6. Where do you shop clothes for you and your child?

I am currently doing the capsule experiment so only have to shop for clothes 4 times a year! It's brilliant. So when I do, my go to's are Country Road, Moochi, Witchery, Belle & Beau. For Carter – Country Road, Seed Heritage, Willow and Bea, Rylee and Cru.

7. Your latest favourite band/musician?

I have music on in my home constantly. I love to stop what we are doing and have a boogie with C. Right now I have Milwaukee Banks on repeat.

8. What is your secret to a good photo of your child?

Natural light! I am also fortunate that Carter isn't overly active, yet! He's so happy to just chill on our bed, potter with a toy. I just pull a silly face and I am guaranteed a smirk. 

9. Why do you like S&B kids?

I was instantly drawn to the simplicity of each toy and the quality blew me away. I am not a plastic toy person and was so delighted to find these. My house is now full of S&B toys and I am happy to have them around my house!

10. What is your favourite toy/item from our collection?

My favourite is the leaf puzzle! I love everything about it. Our little pull along wooden dog with the drum is a very close second!
